Like video, animations and simulations provide a great opportunity to show students complex and/or abstract concepts. In many instances visual representation can show a great deal more in a simpler manner than text and it can make the ordinary appear wonderous.

Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI agree that simulations and animations are an excellent medium for teaching students about complex situations such as, how a bushfire develops, or perhaps giving them the opportunity to be inside a weather system. It is unrealistic to give a student hands on experience in such complex topics.
I do worry that relying too much on simulation could take way from the 'hand on' experience that students can get from activities like growing a plant or discecting a frog!
