Animations and Simulations

Like video, animations and simulations provide a great opportunity to show students complex and/or abstract concepts. In many instances visual representation can show a great deal more in a simpler manner than text and it can make the ordinary appear wonderous.

  1. Hi Sharon,
I agree that simulations and animations are an excellent medium for teaching students about complex situations such as, how a bushfire develops, or perhaps giving them the opportunity to be inside a weather system. It is unrealistic to give a student hands on experience in such complex topics.
I do worry that relying too much on simulation could take way from the 'hand on' experience that students can get from activities like growing a plant or discecting a frog!
